INS Tabar Engages in Naval Cooperation Drill with Sudanese Forces During European and African Voyage
INS Tabar executed a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) in collaboration with the Sudanese Navy on 10 Sep 21, as part of its ongoing goodwill mission to Europe and Africa.
This marked the inaugural PASSEX between the Indian Navy and the Sudanese Navy in recent years. It took place in the Red Sea, close to the Sudanese shore. Two vessels from the Sudanese Navy, Almazz and Nimer, engaged in the PASSEX alongside INS Tabar and her accompanying Chetak helicopter.
The vessels executed various maneuvers during this significant PASSEX. These activities comprised coordinated sailing, at-sea replenishment operations, aerial light transfers via helicopter, maritime interdiction exercises, and communication protocols. The PASSEX proved invaluable in understanding the operational concepts adopted by both navies, thereby enhancing interoperability and broadening the potential for joint missions. The exercise culminated in a traditional Steam Past between the ships as a farewell gesture to one another.
