L3Harris Secures Key Integration Deal for U.S. Navy Frigate Initiative
L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX) has been granted a contract by Fincantieri Marinette Marine for the onboard integration and manufacturing of significant subsystems on the U.S. Navy’s guided-missile frigate FFG 62. L3Harris is ready to assist the Navy’s ambitions to construct a minimum of 10 vessels. The total valuation of the L3Harris initiative may surpass $300 million if all design, development, and production alternatives are secured.
L3Harris is the foremost contributor to the Fincantieri FFG consortium and will supply comprehensive systems that encompass electric and propulsion frameworks, navigation and bridge systems, along with aviation integration services. The varied capabilities that L3Harris provides in the Constellation-class Frigate initiative will distribute the necessary power and propulsion to fulfill the U.S. Navy’s operational demands globally.
“We’re thrilled about the chance to collaborate with the Fincantieri Marinette Marine consortium on the Frigate initiative and we are keen to apply industry-leading speed, creativity, and cost-effectiveness as we deliver the sophisticated integrated capabilities that will guarantee the Navy’s proficiency to operate this vessel securely in any maritime environment,” stated Sean Stackley, President, Integrated Mission Systems, L3Harris.
The Navy recently bestowed a contract to Fincantieri to design and construct the FFG, marking the Navy’s first new construction in over a decade. L3Harris will be assisting Fincantieri at its Marinette, Wisconsin shipyard, where it will fabricate the frigate modeled after the company’s Italian FREMM multi-mission frigate.
