“Revolutionizing Innovation: DSTA Teams Up with SAFRAN for Cutting-Edge Tech and Skills Enhancement”

Singapore’s Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) alongside France’s Safran Electronics & Defense have formed a partnership to harness innovative technologies and cultivate homegrown talent.

Following the enactment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the Singapore Defence Technology Summit* 2023, DSTA and Safran Electronics & Defense will join forces to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of their systems utilized by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

The MOU will also open avenues for both entities to investigate advanced technologies such as computer vision for military applications, through the exchange of R&D results and comprehensive capability roadmaps, as well as potential integration into existing or upcoming systems operated by the SAF.

Moreover, the collaboration will bolster the establishment of local technical assistance and talent cultivation initiatives including internship programs, as well as sharing of knowledge seminars.

“This collaboration with Safran Electronics & Defense will reinforce local technical assistance, which in turn, will boost the availability and sustainability of their systems utilized by the Singapore Armed Forces. It will also emphasize accelerating the implementation of smart technologies such as computer vision within our defense frameworks. As a technology-focused organization, innovation is central to every initiative at DSTA. Expanding our expertise with leading professionals in the field will continuously inspire us to enhance and modernize our defense systems, providing the SAF with a technological advantage,” remarked Mr. Roy Chan, DSTA’s Deputy Chief Executive (Operations).

“This memorandum of understanding between DSTA and Safran Electronics & Defense establishes a robust and enduring collaboration, delivering sovereign solutions to the armed forces with next-generation equipment and systems,” stated Frédéric Mazzanti, Defense Division Director of Safran Electronics & Defense.
