Northrop Grumman Unveils the Completed Manta Ray: A Leap in Underwater Drone Innovation

Northrop Grumman Corporation has successfully finalized the assembly of a full-size uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) prototype known as Manta Ray.

This innovative category of UUV is an extra-large glider designed for extended-duration, long-range, and payload-efficient underwater missions without the necessity for on-site human support.

Manta Ray was developed through a program by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) aimed at enhancing critical technologies to improve future UUV frameworks, such as energy management techniques, augmented payload capacity, low-energy propulsion systems, and additional advancements.
