Raytheon Company, along with Norway’s Kongsberg Defence Systems, is in the process of finalizing strategies to assemble, integrate, and evaluate the Naval Strike Missile within the United States. The two corporations also intend to manufacture NSM launchers domestically.

“The establishment of NSM production in America marks a significant evolution in our long-standing partnership with Kongsberg,” stated Dr. Taylor W. Lawrence, the president of Raytheon Missile Systems. “We will produce both the missile and launchers at the same Raytheon facilities where many of the world’s most sophisticated missiles and weapon systems are created.”
Raytheon anticipates conducting final assembly, integration, and testing of the NSM at its facility located in Tucson, Arizona. The launchers are expected to be manufactured at Raytheon’s factory in Louisville, Kentucky.
With an impressive range exceeding 100 nautical miles, the NSM is a long-range, anti-ship missile that offers exceptional strike capabilities against both land and maritime targets. Raytheon and Kongsberg assert that the NSM is an optimal solution for navies worldwide and serves as the premier over-the-horizon missile for the U.S. Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship.
“Warfighters across the globe will experience benefits from the collaborative efforts of Kongsberg and Raytheon on the NSM,” remarked Harald Ånnestad, President of Kongsberg Defence Systems. “The production of NSM in the United States will guarantee a ramp-up and sustainability of NSM, recognized as the world’s only Fifth Generation Naval Strike Missile with Land Target capabilities, for the U.S. and our allied nations. The increased volume of NSM translates to job creation and sustainability in both the U.S. and Norway.”
The two companies are also collaborating on the development of the Joint Strike Missile and the National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, commonly referred to as NASAMS.
