Successful Flight Trials of the Schiebel Camcopter S-100 for the U.S. Navy: A New Era in Aerial Technology

Schiebel Camcopter S-100

Schiebel Aircraft and Areté Associates proficiently presented the CAMCOPTER® S-100 Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) in conjunction with Areté’s Pushbroom Imaging Lidar for Coastal Surveillance (PILLS) sensor to the US Navy’s Office of Naval Research (ONR).

During a collaborative exhibition backed by the US Office of Naval Research (ONR) aboard a commercial vessel off the shore of Pensacola, Florida, Schiebel and Areté exhibited the CAMCOPTER® S-100 along with its exceptional functionalities, alongside Areté’s Push-broom Imaging Lidar for Coastal Surveillance (PILLS) solution.

PILLS facilitates hydrographic mapping of oceanic coastal regions with a compact size, weight, and power (SWaP) sensor that seamlessly integrates into the S-100. This system boasts numerous military and commercial usability applications.

Hans Georg Schiebel, Chairman of the Schiebel Group, stated: “We take great pride in successfully demonstrating the remarkable capabilities and data-collection attributes of our CAMCOPTER® S-100 to the US Navy. On a global scale, we engage extensively both on land and at sea, and we are confident that our unmanned solution is the ideal choice for the US Navy.”
