“Unleashing Innovation: MBDA and BAE Systems Hägglunds Showcase AKERON and CV90’s Fierce Capabilities”

MBDA’s AKERON MP missile has been launched from the BAE Systems Hägglunds CV90 infantry fighting vehicle at a testing facility in Northern Sweden, witnessed by representatives from the Swedish Armed Forces.

AKERON represents an exclusive series of fifth-generation tactical combat missiles that integrate cutting-edge technologies, including high-resolution multi-band imagers, multi-role warheads (anti-tank, anti-infrastructure, anti-personnel), data-links, and multi-mode guidance algorithms powered by AI methodologies. The CV90 is a highly proficient contemporary infantry combat vehicle featuring an advanced integrated combat system connected to broader battlefield management frameworks.

The synergy between AKERON MP/LYNKEUS and the CV90 combat system delivers exceptional capabilities for target engagement in intricate environments (forested, urban, etc.) through the fusion of immediate target locking of AKERON in lock-on before launch (LOBL) mode, or in-flight target acquisition in lock-on after launch (LOAL) mode. This functionality is facilitated by the data provided to the crew through the CV90 combat system. This distinctive feature of AKERON enables the engagement of tanks at distances of up to 4km, offering the option for collaborative warfare via the CV90 combat system with an integrated LYNKEUS micro-UAV for reconnaissance, marking it as remarkable.

The test conditions were specifically tailored to showcase the complementarity of the CV90’s advanced combat system with the distinctive capabilities of AKERON MP / LYNKEUS, particularly under winter combat situations in the Nordic region, culminating in a successful lock-on before launch (LOBL) in the television band.
