The U.S. Navy executed its inaugural launch of the SeaRAM anti-ship defense system, manufactured by Raytheon, on the 17th of August aboard the USS Carney, which is stationed in Rota, Spain.

The SeaRAM successfully identified, tracked, and engaged a simulated BQM-74E target, intercepting it with a RAM Block II missile during a mid-July assessment. The USS Carney stands as the second of four guided-missile destroyers in the Mediterranean region to incorporate a SeaRAM system.

“These trial outcomes exemplify our robust collaboration with the U.S. Navy, striving to swiftly deliver solutions for safeguarding our military personnel,” stated Rick Nelson, Vice President of Raytheon’s Naval Area and Mission Defense product line. “SeaRAM contributes a crucial layer of protection for the DDGs in Rota, Spain, and can safeguard numerous naval vessels against today’s most pressing threats.”
