US Navy Secures $251M Contract with General Dynamics for Cutting-Edge Virginia-Class Subs
The U.S. Navy has granted General Dynamics Electric Boat a pair of contracts totaling $251 million last week.
Electric Boat operates as a fully owned subsidiary of General Dynamics.
The initial contract is a $215.7 million amendment to a previously awarded deal, which, if all options are utilized, could exceed $1 billion. Electric Boat will deliver planning yard, design agency, engineering assistance, and technical support for active submarines and submersible systems, the company announced in a release on October 1.
The subsequent contract is a $35.3 million cost-plus-fixed-fee agreement for Reactor Plant Planning Yard services for the submarine fleet as well as Support Yard services for the Navy’s Moored Training Ships.
