Emirates SkyCargo Boosts Operations with Addition of Five New Boeing 777 Cargo Jets!
Boeing and Emirates SkyCargo have today announced a pledge for five additional 777 Freighters as the operator once again opts for the globe’s most efficient twin-engine cargo plane to meet soaring freight requirements. This new addition boosts Emirates’ order book to 245 Boeing widebody aircraft, which includes ten 777 Freighters.
Emirates SkyCargo operates as the logistics division of Emirates, the largest international airline worldwide. Its investment in the 777 Freighter is anticipated to enhance main deck cargo capacities by 30 percent by 2026 and broaden Emirates’ freighter fleet to 17 aircraft – comprising 777 Freighters, 777 converted freighters, and 747 Freighters.
The 777 Freighter can operate longer distances (9,200 kilometers / 4,970 nautical miles) and carry more cargo (102 metric tons / 112 tons) than any other twin-engine cargo aircraft. This operational range and load capacity allow operators to provide more direct long-haul flights that link markets such as the Middle East with the U.S. and Europe – connecting essential high-value cargo markets without the necessity for refueling.
“We are honored that Emirates SkyCargo, acknowledged for its operational excellence and innovation, has once again selected the Boeing 777 Freighter to broaden the scope of its global network,” stated Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “We sincerely appreciate Emirates’ trust in the Boeing widebody family and are committed to supporting their long-term strategic growth objectives.”
As the leader in the cargo aircraft sector, Boeing controls over 90% of the worldwide dedicated freighter capacity, including both new builds and converted aircraft. The 777 Freighter continues to be the company’s top-selling freighter aircraft in history, with over 265 deliveries completed to date.
