LM Celebrates Milestone with Delivery of 800th THAAD Interceptor

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has successfully completed the delivery of the 800th Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) interceptor to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). THAAD represents an exceptionally efficient, combat-tested defensive system against short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missile threats, and is the sole U.S. technology engineered to engage targets both outside and within the atmosphere.

“By delivering the 800th THAAD interceptor, Lockheed Martin reinforces our steadfast dedication to the MDA and the service personnel who manage the system,” stated Dan Nimblett, vice president of Upper Tier Integrated Air and Missile Defense. “Our production team and industry collaborators persist in guaranteeing these supplies are delivered promptly while adhering to the utmost quality standards to counteract and anticipate advanced dangers.”

In April, the MDA granted Lockheed Martin a $180.3 million contract to manufacture additional interceptors and one-shot devices. This contract represented the 15th batch of THAAD interceptors ordered by the U.S. government and was an amendment to the earlier agreement.
