
Sweden Unveils Exciting Proposal for Croatia: A New Era with 12 Gripen C/D Fighters!
Proposal for Gripen C/D Fighter Aircraft to Croatia
Representatives from the Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) and the Swedish Embassy in Croatia have officially presented a government-to-government proposal to provide 12 advanced Gripen C/D fighter aircraft to Croatian authorities. In addition to this proposal, Saab is offering a customized strategic cooperation package designed to enhance the Croatian defense industry and improve national security by fostering a long-term partnership with key sectors.
“Sweden and Saab are committed to delivering a robust and enduring solution for Croatia’s homeland security, ensuring the safety of its citizens and borders for years to come. Should Croatia opt for the Gripen, Saab is fully prepared to transfer critical know-how and technology while establishing a Regional Aeronautical & Support Service Centre in Croatia. This initiative is expected to foster significant collaboration with the local defense industry and academic institutions, creating approximately 500 high-tech job opportunities,” remarks Jonas Hjelm, Senior Vice President and head of Saab’s business area Aeronautics.
Capabilities of Gripen C/D Fighter
The Gripen C/D stands as a modern, multi-role fighter, equipped with cutting-edge technology. It excels in a wide range of operations, including air-to-air combat, air-to-ground strikes, and reconnaissance missions. This aircraft is currently utilized by the air forces of Sweden, Hungary, the Czech Republic, South Africa, and Thailand.
Gripen fighters from the Czech and Hungarian Air Forces regularly engage in NATO operations and exercises, demonstrating the fighter’s full interoperability with NATO forces.
With continuous enhancements to its systems and weaponry, the Gripen C/D maintains a competitive edge over its adversaries and is set to remain operational for decades.
