Thales Introduces Revolutionary Breakthroughs at the 25th Global Armoured Vehicle Summit

The Thales Land sector in the UK is gearing up for its premier event of 2025 – the International Armoured Vehicles Conference (IAVC) – scheduled to be held from Tuesday, January 21 to Thursday, January 23.

Now commemorating its 25th iteration, Thales will be in the company of over 1,400 attendees from more than 50 nations at IAVC’s new location, the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre. Thales will demonstrate how it is delivering a tactical advantage in warfare – both presently and for the years ahead.

During the IAVC, Thales will be showcasing:

  • Bushmaster: Thales’ tested and remarkably adaptable protected mobility vehicle – currently utilized by 9 nations and effectively engaged in operations throughout the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the Pacific. With constantly advancing design enhancements, Thales will be unveiling its latest edition (5.5), currently operational with the New Zealand Army, in the UK for the first time.
  • DigitalCrew™: Thales’ groundbreaking virtual crew member. Platform, domain, and sensor agnostic, DigitalCrew™ boosts situational awareness for soldiers in armored vehicles while reducing the cognitive burden on operators through its autonomous detection, tracking, and AI-powered classification features.

In addition, Thales will highlight the Panoramic Above Armour Gimbal (PAAG) – a cutting-edge 360-degree electronic reconnaissance and sighting system equipped with advanced sensors that provide vehicle commanders and crews a crucial tactical edge on the battlefield.

Thales Innovations

During the event, Thales will be showcasing the sensors and digital innovations that form the backbone of the UK’s armored vehicle competencies. This encompasses:

  • PAAG on Moog’s Dingo vehicle.
  • Orion and DNGS T3 sighting systems integrated with DigitalCrew™, as well as local situational awareness systems, smoke grenade launchers, and the Acusonic shot detection technique on the Ajax vehicle.
  • The Kongsberg Remote Weapon Station – produced by Thales – integrated with the SharpView RWS Thermal Imager and SharpAim Laser Range Finder Module, along with Acusonic on the Boxer vehicle.

Jonathan Welch, Head of Sales OME (Optronics and Missile Electronics) at Thales, remarked, “We’re excited to present our latest technological breakthroughs at this vital global occasion for armored vehicle creators.

“As noted at DVD 2024, the Army’s Land Mobility Programme is progressing swiftly, with initial tenders being issued. Therefore, IAVC 2025 offers an exceptional platform to highlight the dependable solutions Thales provides – including the highly adaptable Bushmaster 5.5; the very vehicle delivered to the New Zealand Army in 2023.

“We look forward to welcoming our industry colleagues and Armed Forces representatives to our booths, and showcasing the capabilities Thales contributes to the sector.”
