Defence and security corporation Saab has formalized an agreement on the 20th of July in the UK with the Police and Crime Commissioners for West Mercia and Warwickshire to deliver an integrated control room and mobile data solution for critical operations across both police jurisdictions. This six-year contract is part of an earlier framework established by Cheshire Constabulary in December 2015, with implementation slated for 2016-2017.
This agreement further enhances the broader adoption of SAFE as the premier integrated solution for Public Safety control rooms.
Saab’s SAFE platform will supplant various outdated systems within the two police forces with a singular cost-effective solution. Featuring multi-role capabilities and an intuitive, workflow-driven user interface, SAFE will be extensively utilized across both jurisdictions for multi-channel public communication (including 999 and 101 calls, email, and web chat), incident handling, radio communication, and resource allocation.
“This contract also provisions SAFE’s mobile client for police personnel, thus extending the functions of SAFE in the control room to the field. Through this agreement, Saab is further advancing its Public Safety solutions internationally and broadening its reach in the strategic UK market,” states Simon Read, Director of Public Safety in the UK for Saab’s Support and Services division.
“SAFE enables users to make more informed, rapid decisions. It boosts resolution at initial contact, elevates customer satisfaction, and allows officers to function more efficiently,” remarks Jessica Öberg, head of the Networks & Public Safety unit within Saab’s Support and Services division.
By employing SAFE, Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police will be ideally positioned to transition from Airwave to the new Emergency Services Network (ESN). The SAFE Mobile app will facilitate the advantages of the increased bandwidth that ESN offers.
SAFE consolidates all necessary functions for a contemporary mission-critical control room into a single software application; including multi-channel communications, contact management, command and control, radio dispatch, mapping, and resource management. SAFE is a modular platform featuring a unified, intuitive workflow-based user interface that is highly adaptable and can be implemented on fixed, web, and mobile clients.
Other UK Police forces included in the framework contract are: Cumbria Constabulary, Derbyshire Constabulary, Dyfed Powys Police, Greater Manchester Police, Gwent Police, Hampshire Constabulary, Lancashire Police, Merseyside Police, Metropolitan Police, Northamptonshire Police, North Wales Police, Nottinghamshire Police, Police Scotland, and Thames Valley Police.
