French Special Forces Select Safran’s State-of-the-Art Euroflir™ 410 for NH90 Helicopters
Safran Electronics & Defense has secured a significant contract with Airbus Helicopters to provide advanced Euroflir™410 observation systems for ten NH90-TTH Caiman helicopters, set to serve French Special Forces. These cutting-edge Standard 2 helicopters are designed to facilitate a diverse range of utility missions effectively.
The Euroflir™410 is a state-of-the-art system engineered to detect and identify threats from several kilometers away, enhancing the operational capabilities of French Special Forces. This technology empowers them to execute the most challenging missions, regardless of the time of day or adverse weather conditions. Manufactured in France by Safran, the Euroflir™410 boasts a compact and modular optronic (electro-optical) design, providing exceptional observation capabilities under all visibility conditions. Key features include a very-long-range multispectral telescope and high-performance line-of-sight stabilization. Moreover, its seamless integration with mission systems and compatibility with wide-field-of-view Eurofl’eye™ optronics significantly alleviates pilot workload in the cockpit.
Safran’s recent contract reinforces its position as a leader in the competitive onboard optronics market. The ten NH90 TTH Standard 2 helicopters are scheduled for delivery to the 4th Special Forces Helicopter Regiment starting in 2025, marking a strategic upgrade as they will gradually replace the French Army’s Puma helicopters.
