Avon Protection, a renowned leader in innovative personal safety equipment, has procured three contracts from the United States Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) ASPIRE HMI (Advanced System for Protection and Integrated Reduction of Encumbrances Hood/Mask Interface) program, overseen by the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND).

The collection of agreements will involve the design and creation of a solution to improve synergy between currently utilized M50 and M53A1 CBRN defense masks and CBRN protective apparel hoods within a CBRN ensemble.

“The risk a user faces when purchasing protective equipment as individual systems from different vendors is the potential for compatibility issues at the points where these distinct systems merge, no matter how exceptional each item may be,” commented Steve Elwell, President of Avon Protection. “Our approach is to mitigate this risk by designing our products for effortless integration, and it is this understanding of the importance of interface enhancement among systems that we will bring to our efforts on this contract.”

The DoD acts as a crucial partner for Avon Protection, with countless Avon Protection M50/M51 and M53/M53A1 air filtration respirators (APRs) actively in service across all branches of the U.S. military.
