Northrop Grumman Unveils Game-Changing IBCS for Poland’s Air Defense Revolution
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) has provided essential Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) components for Poland’s WISŁA medium-range aerial defense initiative. With this provision, IBCS advances toward being completely operational as part of Poland’s sophisticated air and missile defense framework.
The latest supply of the IBCS Integrated Fire Control Network (IFCN) relays aids the WISŁA program’s deployment timeline, marking the inaugural international military sale of IBCS. Achieving this landmark delivers a vital capability to a significant U.S. ally and fulfills NATO interoperability objectives.
“Northrop Grumman is revolutionizing decision-making for the U.S. and its partners by unifying sensors and munitions for air and missile defense,” stated Rebecca Torzone, vice president and general manager, Combat Systems and Mission Readiness at Northrop Grumman. “IBCS equips Polish air defenders with the capability to make quicker, more informed decisions to deter, disrupt, and neutralize threats across all domains.”
Alongside the IFCN relay provisions, Northrop Grumman is executing a series of integration and testing scenarios with the Engagement Operation Centers (EOCs) previously supplied in July 2022, along with the relays. These evaluations and the corresponding training are crucial milestones toward Poland receiving their initial systems and achieving Basic Operational Capability later in 2023.
IBCS employs a modular, open, and scalable architecture essential for integrating available resources in the combat environment, regardless of their source, service, or domain into a unified fire control network. Its architecture facilitates the efficient and economical integration of present and future systems and extends the combat theater by decoupling sensors and effectors. By enabling this elevated level of network integration, the warfighter gains unprecedented time to make precise choices. Through numerous successful development and operational tests and demonstrations, IBCS has validated its capacity to connect and harmonize multi-service sensor data to multi-service weapons, showcasing Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) capabilities.
