“Unveiling Innovation: KNDS Launches Ukrainian Armaments Subsidiary”
Kyiv/Amsterdam, 01. October 2024 – With approximately 800 systems in pre-deployment or under contract, along with substantial ammunition shipments, the Franco-German defense consortium KNDS stands out as one of the key industrial allies of the Ukrainian land forces. The firm has recently established a subsidiary in Kyiv.
Under the designation KNDS Ukraine LLC, it will facilitate the collaboration between Ukrainian government entities, the domestic armaments sector, and KNDS.
The establishment of KNDS Ukraine aims to enable the Ukrainian industry to conduct maintenance, repairs, and refurbishing on KNDS systems – including the Leopard 1 and 2 main battle tanks, the CAESAR artillery piece, the AMX10 RC, the PzH 2000 armored howitzer, and the Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle – thereby significantly enhancing the operational readiness of these systems for combat. Concurrently, KNDS and the Ukrainian industry plan to collaboratively produce 155 mm artillery munitions in Ukraine and manufacture spare components utilizing advanced production technologies.
The inception of KNDS Ukraine LLC is rooted in a corresponding Franco-German governmental initiative, the foundations of which were unveiled on 22 March 2024 by Defense Ministers Sebastien Lecornu and Boris Pistorius in Berlin.
