Oshkosh Defense Unveils Plans for New Medium Equipment Trailers for the U.S. Army
Oshkosh Defense revealed that the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has granted a production agreement for the Medium Equipment Trailer (MET). Oshkosh will collaborate with Broshuis, B.V to carry out the $342 million agreement.
The five-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement encompasses the option for an additional two years and requires Oshkosh to manufacture approximately 557 trailers. The MET is a six-axle trailer designed to be towed by the Oshkosh Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter (EHET) M1300 Tractor, with the capability to acquire European road approvals at necessary payloads and navigate highway overpasses. The integrated MET and EHET system can transport military gear weighing up to 60-tons.
In September 2022, the U.S. Army also appointed Oshkosh to manufacture the Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter System (EHETS).
“We value the U.S. Army’s ongoing trust in our logistical solutions, which are essential for the rapid global deployment of mission-critical equipment,” stated Pat Williams, chief programs officer for Oshkosh Defense. “These trailers, when combined with the Oshkosh EHET, are crucial for enduring the demands of contemporary warfare and tackling the challenges of contested logistics.”
Oshkosh Defense is set to supply the initial trailers in May 2024 to facilitate Product Qualification Testing and Operational Testing.
