Saab Secures Contract to Supply Advanced Radar Components for U.S. Marine Corps

Saab has secured a 36.7 million USD contract for the U.S. Marine Corps’ AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar G/ATOR. This contract was awarded by Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation, the principal contractor for G/ATOR.

The contract encompasses components and subsystems to support the Full Rate Production phase. Saab’s shipments associated with this agreement will occur between 2020 and 2021 from its production facility in Syracuse, New York, USA.

The initial full rate production agreement, granted to Saab in 2019, also comprises options for supplementary sets of assemblies and related spare parts over a five-year duration until 2024. Saab has been a key collaborator with Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation since the inception of the G/ATOR system design and development contract awarded in 2007.

“Thanks to Saab’s robust collaboration with Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation, we continue to propel the G/ATOR program in support of the U.S. Marine Corps. Each shipment of the G/ATOR system enhances the capability and efficiency of our Armed Forces and reflects Saab’s steadfast commitment to furthering the safety and security of our US partners,” remarked Erik Smith, President and CEO of Saab in the U.S.

The AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) provides the U.S. Marine Corps with functions for aerial surveillance, air defense, and ground weapon locating operations within a single, comprehensive ground-based radar solution.
