“Dynamic Duo: Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics Join Forces for Groundbreaking Rocket Engine Advancements”

Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) have announced the formation of a collaborative agreement for the production of solid rocket engines, enhancing safety and robustness within a vital domestic supply chain.

“Maintaining a strong and diverse supply chain for solid rocket engines is crucial to advancing our 21st Century Security® strategy, fostering a stronger and more resilient defense industrial landscape that ensures our global clients remain ahead of emerging threats. This agreement enables Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics to expedite the production of high-demand solutions more swiftly in the future,” expressed Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.

“We are thrilled to leverage our expertise in missile subsystems to unveil new capabilities that will bolster the resilience of the domestic supply network,” commented Firat Gezen, president of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS). “The alliance between GD-OTS and Lockheed Martin underscores our collective dedication to strengthening the defense industrial framework and providing essential capabilities to the warfighter.”

Initial efforts will focus on the production of solid rocket engines for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) and will occur at the General Dynamics facility in Camden, Arkansas, starting in 2025. This project will be followed by a phased planning strategy to transition to additional products.

GD-OTS will enhance its operations in Camden by employing modern manufacturing techniques to provide cost-effective and reliable solid rocket engines at scale.

This advancement comes on the heels of the recent launch of Lockheed Martin’s Solid Rocket Motor Product Center, designed to improve the reliability of supply for affordable propulsion systems.
