Saab Expands GlobalEye Fleet: Pioneering a New Chapter in Aerospace Technology with Swedish FMV

Today, Saab has successfully concluded a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the provision of a third GlobalEye airborne reconnaissance and command platform to Sweden. The contract’s worth is around SEK 2.6 billion, with deliveries anticipated between 2024 and 2029.

This procurement is derived from an option outlined in Saab’s pact with FMV dating back to June 2022, which included two GlobalEye units and options for an additional two aircraft. The designation for GlobalEye in Sweden is S 106.

“We take pride in enhancing Sweden’s defense capabilities with yet another GlobalEye aircraft, which will provide unmatched situational understanding of the surroundings along with the capacity for early detection and alerting of potential threats in the air, at sea, or on land,” declares Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab.

GlobalEye symbolizes a state-of-the-art multi-domain AEW&C solution equipped with a comprehensive array of active and passive sensors that guarantee long-distance detection and identification of objects in the air, at sea, and across the land. By supplying real-time intelligence to air force, army, and naval forces, GlobalEye enhances situational awareness and facilitates the swift identification of hazards.
