“Stinger Missile Deal: U.S. Greenlights $740 Million Sale to Egypt”
The U.S. Department of State has sanctioned the prospective sale of 720 Stinger missiles to Egypt for $740 million, the Pentagon announced on Tuesday.
The missiles have seen immense demand in Ukraine, where they have effectively thwarted Russian aerial assaults, and in surrounding European nations that worry they might also need to repel Russian troops.
Egypt plans to mount the Stingers on vehicles fitted with the Avenger launcher system instead of a shoulder-fired mechanism.
The primary contractor will be RTX Corp (RTX.N), as stated by the Pentagon.
This summer, various NATO allies ordered nearly $700 million worth of these missiles. That order has prolonged the production lines’ backlog through 2029. Egypt’s purchase contributes to this increase.
