Anschütz Unveils Revolutionary Autonomous Navigation and Control Technology

An exceptional autonomous system solution utilizing commercially viable technologies

Leveraging established, readily accessible, and certified system components, German navigation expert Anschütz has created an approval-ready, seamlessly integrated, and comprehensive navigation and command system tailored for autonomous and unmanned maritime operations. This system has undergone rigorous testing in autonomous functionalities and is currently being prepared for prototype implementations.

The Autonomous Navigation and Command System from Anschütz equips navies with an enduring capability and enhanced safety for unmanned operations. It guarantees accurate and safe autonomous navigation, control, and management of unmanned platforms, while facilitating remote supervision and operation from a Tactical Operations Centre (TOC), such as a shoreline station or mothership. Anschütz’s solutions for the TOC can also be fashioned as a portable, containerized option.

Autonomous navigation, tactical mission capabilities, and automation management are grounded in established technologies developed by Anschütz. At the heart of the integrated solution lies the SYNAPSIS Integrated Navigation System, which utilizes and improves upon tried-and-true secure technology. Its functionalities include the oversight and management of platforms, the creation of a comprehensive maritime situational awareness using navigation sensors, optical devices, and surveillance systems, along with advanced tactical target management. Unmanned vessels are navigated and maneuvered accurately and safely with automated course and speed regulation, supplemented by a collision avoidance system. Target detection and categorization are automated, and various tactical functions are flawlessly integrated into the system.

The meta-architecture of the system allows for scaling from support systems to highly automated solutions, and from the oversight and management of Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs) to automation solutions for large combat ships. As a reusable, modular system built on existing components, designs, and standardized interfaces, the solution enables straightforward integration and expansion of sensors, automation processes, and communication systems, while also accommodating customer-specific security demands. The system can be tailored to align with upcoming regulations and standards.

A key differentiator of Anschütz’s Autonomous Navigation and Command System is the cohesive integration of autonomous navigation with mission system components. Thanks to the availability and automation of tactical mission functions and the amalgamation of all onboard data into a unified operational picture, the system provides a considerable capability advantage and delivers high flexibility for various missions. By linking multiple units into an autonomous system network, the speed and efficiency of maritime operations can be remarkably enhanced.

Common application scenarios encompass ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance) missions, safeguarding critical maritime infrastructure and shorelines, as well as mine detection and identification of various underwater anomalies.
