“Saab Secures Fresh Order for Cutting-Edge Senop AFCD TI Smart Sight”
Senop has secured a contract from Saab for the provision of the Senop AFCD TI smart sight. This acquisition for the Senop AFCD TI emphasizes Senop’s capability to enhance a NATO member’s combat effectiveness on the contemporary battlefield.
The Senop Advanced Fire Control Device Thermal Imager (AFCD TI) is among the first advanced sights available for the Carl-Gustaf® M4 and M3 weapons, and it uniquely combines all performance-critical functions into a single unit, being certified for both Carl-Gustaf M4 and M3 platforms.
With a soaring demand for military assets, the ability to manufacture extensive quantities of top-tier products is increasingly vital.
“Over the last four to five years, Senop has expanded tremendously, allowing us to invest substantially in our manufacturing capabilities and in research and innovation,” states Aki Korhonen, President of Senop.
“We take pride in supporting our client with the Senop AFCD TI. The contract we obtained is a clear testament to our proficiency and capacity to deliver cutting-edge solutions that fulfill our client’s specifications and bolster operational firepower,” Korhonen adds.
For the Carl-Gustaf, the AFCD TI provides multiple performance-boosting features within a singular device. This represents a notable distinction compared to existing alternatives, which rely on a conventional day sight and Clip-On night optics assembly. The advanced optronics, ballistic computation, and communication with the latest munitions yield exceptionally high first-round hit probabilities for both dynamic and static targets. Depending on the circumstances, the operator can select a day camera, a thermal camera, or a composite fusion image to detect, identify, and acknowledge targets on the battlefield. The AFCD TI is the lightest fire control system available for the Carl-Gustaf, equipped with all the aforementioned capabilities. The unit weighs merely 1.7 kg and is engineered to fulfill the highest usability standards.
Due to the confidentiality of the contract and the prevailing environment, the end-customer and specifics of the transaction will remain confidential.
