Collins Aerospace Showcases Innovative Integrated Command Network at EDGE 22
Collins Aerospace showcased a Unified Network that accomplished the range and scale necessary to facilitate Army modernization and JADC2 initiatives for joint and coalition forces. This demonstration was part of the recent Experimental Demonstration Gateway Exercise 2022 (EDGE 22) at the Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah.
The showcase established a Unified Command and Control Network utilizing ground and aerial platforms to link multiple brigade combat teams and division resources separated by distances of up to 365 kilometers (226 miles) in challenging terrain. An advanced tactical data link, mesh network, and intelligent gateways enabled the cohesive network.
The intelligent gateway featured a cross-domain solution that supported various security levels across the networks, granting division Commanders and coalition allies access to a unified operational perspective to enhance situational awareness and facilitate quick, informed decision-making. Intelligent gateways integrate networks, overcoming restrictions of legacy systems and scaling command and control without necessitating expensive new equipment or upgrades across the Army Enterprise.
“The warfighter’s most valuable asset is a Unified Network as it delivers actionable intelligence anywhere within the multi-domain battlespace and unites commanders in real-time to synchronize mission operations,” stated Elaine Bitonti, vice president, JADC2 Demonstration and Experimentation for Collins Aerospace. “This improved situational awareness – by securely connecting diverse networks – reduces the decision-making timeframe needed to identify the most effective course of action.”
