Collins Aerospace and PT Dirgantara Indonesia Forge Alliance for Cutting-Edge Upgrades to Indonesian Air Force C-130H Fleet
- Featuring Flight2 Digital Cockpit
- Enhancement will incorporate Collins’ innovative APS-7000 digital autopilot system
- A greater number of C-130 modifications have been equipped with Collins avionics than any other single supplier globally
Collins Aerospace and PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) have today unveiled a pact to upgrade the Indonesian Air Force C-130 military transport vessels as part of its Phase 2 implementation strategy, with eleven C-130 units set for enhancement. Acting as a supplier for PTDI, Collins will offer its Flight2™ aftermarket avionics solution, recognized for delivering the most cost-efficient and risk-minimized CNS/ATM upgrade option.
“Transitioning to the Flight2 system equips the Indonesian Air Force with a comprehensive suite of communications, navigation, and surveillance tools that seamlessly blends next-gen avionics with legacy sensors, radios, autopilot, and aircraft systems, enhancing operational and mission effectiveness,” stated Martin Hoare, Director of Global Business Development for Military Avionics & Helicopters. “The avionics upgrade includes a complete glass cockpit featuring state-of-the-art primary flight displays, ensuring compatibility with numerous other C-130 operators as well as commercial airliners.”
Flight2 metamorphoses a federated analog framework into a contemporary digital glass cockpit. With its sophisticated displays and integrated military/civil flight management system, Flight2 offers cutting-edge functionalities available today, such as required navigation performance, area navigation flight management system with high altitude release point, and computed air release point precision airdrop software. Simultaneously, it remains the most cost-efficient and risk-averse CNS/ATM upgrade solution.
As part of the enhancement, Collins will employ its Flight2 Mobility Mission Application (MMA) architecture, enabling customers to select from a comprehensive suite of ready-made capabilities. Users of the MMA architecture can customize the system to fulfill precise mission demands, adhere to regional communications, navigation, and surveillance/air traffic management regulations, or optimize capabilities within a specified budget.
By upgrading to Flight2, the Indonesian Air Force’s C-130H will adhere to the latest International Civil Aviation Organization standards, while also providing a strategic advantage in military engagements.
“This partnership highlights PTDI’s commitment to executing the Indonesian Air Force’s C-130 modernization initiative, particularly in the realm of avionics enhancement,” remarked PTDI’s President Director Gita Amperiawan.
Collins Aerospace has supplied over 1,100 Flight2 solutions for both military fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including the KC-135, KC-10, C-130 P-3, C-2A, E-2C, and E-3. Collins has also delivered or is under contract for 370 C-130 upgrades across 16 distinct nations. A higher number of C-130 upgrades have been equipped with avionics from Collins than from any other individual supplier worldwide.
