Qatar Airways and Boeing Launch Revolutionary Partnership for 210 Iconic Widebody Aircraft
Qatar Airways in collaboration with Boeing has announced that the airline will procure up to 210 widebody airplanes, setting new standards as the largest widebody purchase for Boeing, which encompasses the most extensive order for 787 Dreamliners and Qatar Airways’ most significant procurement thus far.
This deal, which also includes supplementary orders for Boeing’s advanced 777-9, is projected to generate roughly 400,000 job opportunities in the U.S. and will strategically position the renowned Middle Eastern airline for broader global growth.
The procurement incorporates:
• 130 787 Dreamliners, the long-distance, ultra-efficient widebody aircraft series that has attained a 25% improvement in fuel efficiency relative to older models, while offering exceptional comfort for passengers. Ten orders were earlier listed as unbranded.
• 30 777-9s, recognized as the largest twin-engine aircraft globally, designed to set new standards in efficiency by lowering fuel usage and emissions by 25% in relation to preceding aircraft, while enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
• Options for an additional 50 787 and 777X airplanes.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, joined Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope, and Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Engr.
