Rheinmetall Reveals Game-Changing Military Tech Breakthroughs at Land Forces 2024

Rheinmetall, the leading supplier of military vehicles for the Australian Defence Force, is presenting the company’s array of capabilities and strengths for future ground forces, showcasing combat, combat logistics, and dismounted combat at Land Forces 2024, which is being held this week at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Nathan Poyner, Managing Director of Rheinmetall Defence Australia, mentioned that this year’s exhibit acts as a digital capability demonstration, encompassing Rheinmetall Defence Australia’s Combat Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Subsystem (CISRS) software.

“CISRS forms the digital backbone of the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) fleet and adheres to a modular and open systems design philosophy. CISRS currently integrates cutting-edge software amalgamated from various sectors within the Defence industry and other Land programs.”

“Rheinmetall’s Land Forces Display emphasizes our expertise as a digitization systems integrator through both dismounted and mounted Battle Management System (BMS) software, connecting to Integrated Soldier Systems and the intricate vehicle framework of the Boxer CRV.”

“This provides the operator with a unified operational perspective for both mounted and dismounted forces, facilitated by the Crew Terminal graphical user interface, and a Software Development Kit adaptable to any vehicle platform.”

“Linking with the Boxer CRV via a simulated Tactical Communications Network involves an Integrated Soldier System End User Device (Tactical Smart Phone) that operates the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) BMS.”

“Our expertise in constructing both Soldier Systems and Complex Vehicle Systems architectures positions Rheinmetall as the preferred digitization partner for the German Army and the Hungarian Defence Force.”

“Under the L400-2 initiative, the CISRS software continues to progress, enhancing its C4 capabilities to cater to a variety of additional functions,” he emphasized.

Mr. Poyner highlighted that the exhibition featured:
The Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle:
Currently operational with the Australian Army and ordered by Australia for the German Defence Force, the CRV is equipped with a reconnaissance mission module that includes a two-person digital LANCE Turret; the first crewed medium-calibre turret deployed on the Boxer platform. The highly fortified vehicle is fitted with stabilized digital optics featuring an integrated laser rangefinder and fire control unit for both commander and gunner.
The vehicle safeguards against anti-tank munitions, medium-calibre projectiles, and artillery fragments.
