“US Army Elevates Elite Forces with Groundbreaking Boeing Aviation Deal”

The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC) has granted Boeing a $240 million agreement to refurbish five MH-47G Block II Chinook helicopters. Deliveries are slated to commence in 2027.

“Meeting the requirements of our special operators remains extremely crucial,” stated Heather McBryan, Vice President of Cargo Programs and program director for Boeing Defense, Space & Security. “USASOAC possesses distinct and intricate mission demands, making it essential to deliver the enhanced features of the MH-47G Block II expediently.”

This contract follows USASOAC’s procurement of four MH-47G Block II helicopters in 2024. With this deal, the Army now has a cumulative total of 51 MH-47G Block II helicopters under contract. Boeing foresees concluding the complete USASOAC Chinook fleet by early 2030.

The MH-47G Block II heavy-lift helicopter enhances the worldwide capabilities of USASOAC. Equipped with a reinforced airframe, revamped fuel tanks, cutting-edge avionics, and a design that accommodates future cost-effective modernization, this aircraft is optimally positioned for decades of service ahead.
