Teledyne FLIR Defense Secures $249 Million IDIQ Contract for Innovative USMC Precision Fire Solutions

Teledyne FLIR Defense, a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, declared that it has secured an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement valued up to $249 million from the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command for its Organic Precision Fires-Light (OPF-L) initiative. The initial order for delivery is appraised at $12 million.

As outlined in the Marine Corps solicitation documents, Organic Precision Fires-Light represents an innovative system devised to furnish rifle squads and platoons with a portable, “organic, loitering, precision strike capability to engage adversaries beyond the line of sight.”

Teledyne FLIR’s cutting-edge small Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) loitering munitions solution has demonstrated remarkable success in evaluations against both mobile and stationary armor, vehicles, and dismounted targets. The capacity to retrieve and reutilize the new system will alleviate the pack burden for Marines while enhancing their combat effectiveness.

“The versatility, flexibility, and extensive nature of our proposed OPF-L platform will elevate small unit lethality amidst the diverse range of targets that Marines encounter in modern operational environments,” stated Dr. JihFen Lei, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Teledyne FLIR Defense. “We anticipate delivering this advanced technology and collaborating closely with the Marine Corps to strengthen its force projection – and protection – capabilities.”

Teledyne FLIR will supply the initial 127 loitering munition systems to the Marines for assessment and evaluation later this summer. The contract includes a five-year execution period along with a three-year option.
