Boeing Secures Contract to Advance Rigorous Environmental Testing for Vital Defense Systems

The U.S. Air Force has granted Boeing a contract valued at up to $559 million over a span of five years to operate, maintain, and conduct evaluations at the Little Mountain Test Facility located at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. This cutting-edge site is engineered to assess the functionality of the nation’s existing and forthcoming intercontinental ballistic missile arsenal, nuclear modernization initiatives, and other essential defense and deterrence capabilities in the most challenging environments.

Boeing has managed and maintained operations at the Little Mountain Test Facility, including radiation effects, electromagnetic effects, shock and vibration, alongside other environmental assessments, for half a century.

“From strategic deterrents to various high-priority defense and aerospace systems, it is crucial that we meticulously assess and confirm their effectiveness to fulfill their missions under any circumstances,” stated Ted Kerzie, acting vice president of Boeing Strategic Missile & Defense Systems. “Our exceptional Boeing test engineers excel in their field, and we are privileged to continue serving the nation in this role.”

Since 1974, Boeing has executed testing operations and delivered technical assistance on both nuclear and non-nuclear platforms at this facility for the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Boeing is committed to advancing capabilities and capacity at the Little Mountain Test Facility in support of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, guaranteeing that testing capabilities and facilities comply with sustainment, modernization, and mission demands.
