Klein Marine Systems Partners with Exail for Cutting-Edge Sonar Navigation Solutions
Klein Marine Systems, a frontrunner in sonar innovation, has chosen the Exail Octans Nano OEM Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) as the standard navigation tool for their 5900 Side Scan Sonar (SSS). This partnership aims to improve the sonar’s accuracy and dependability for high-res seabed imaging, facilitating a variety of defense, security, and commercial purposes.
The Exail Octans Nano OEM AHRS delivers a heading precision of 0.5° secant latitude, along with pitch and roll precision of 0.1°, ensuring stable and accurate attitude and heading information. These functionalities are vital for enhancing sonar image clarity, boosting positioning accuracy, and minimizing the requirement for intensive post-processing. The system’s compact layout and low power usage enable effortless integration into subsea platforms, making it perfect for prolonged underwater missions where exact attitude data is crucial.

The Klein 5900 SSS is renowned for its high-resolution seabed imaging capabilities, facilitating vital activities such as geophysical assessments, wreck identification, and the detection of unexploded ordnance (UXO). With the incorporation of Exail’s AHRS technology, the sonar’s capacity to maintain stability and mitigate drift in challenging underwater environments is enhanced, guaranteeing reliable and precise data collection in even the most intricate settings.
