Hensoldt Bolsters Ukraine’s Air Defense with Four Additional Radar Systems
Radar innovator HENSOLDT is providing four additional advanced radars for Diehl Defence’s IRIS-T SLM air defense system, which guarantees the safeguarding of Ukraine against aerial assaults. Under a contract from Diehl Defence valued at a mid-double-digit million figure, the TRML-4D radars are scheduled for delivery to Diehl throughout 2024, commencing in January.
Thomas Müller, the CEO of HENSOLDT, remarked: “This contract is a testament to the remarkable operational outcomes reported from Ukraine. We take pride in our ability to further enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities. These radars are vital for preserving lives!”
The TRML-4D employs state-of-the-art digital radar technology. It is adept at detecting, monitoring, and categorizing various types of aerial targets. A key emphasis is on small, agile, low-flying and/or maneuvering cruise missiles, along with aircraft and helicopters. This system ensures swift detection and tracking of nearly 1,500 targets within a range of up to 250 km.
HENSOLDT boasts decades of expertise in radar systems designed for air defense and actively promotes the advancement of critical technologies in this domain. In addition to the TRML-4D multifunction radar, the firm’s assortment also features the Twinvis passive radar, the Spexer product family, and radars aimed at safeguarding maritime and aerial operations. HENSOLDT delivers radars for the latest frigates and corvettes of the German Navy, for airspace monitoring, and for approach management at airfields utilized by the German Armed Forces, among other applications.
