KNDS France and the Indonesian Armed Forces: a formidable partnership with over 40 years of engagement
The longstanding partnership with Indonesia is vital for KNDS. In this context, KNDS France established its regional office in Jakarta in 2022, with the intention of enhancing and expanding the strategic industrial collaboration with Indonesia for the foreseeable future. KNDS France acknowledges the Indonesian government’s vision to attain autonomy and self-sufficiency in several crucial defense domains and is committed to assisting in these initiatives.
KNDS France highlights its steadfast dedication to nurturing a more robust and sustainable industrial partnership with state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and private firms through Technology Transfer and Manufacturing Transfer, especially in the sectors of artillery and medium to large caliber ammunition, supporting the Indonesian government’s blueprint to strengthen the Indonesian Defense industry.
KNDS champions the advancement of Indonesia’s domestic defense and technological industrial base (DTIB).
Consequently, KNDS France is thrilled to declare the signing of five pivotal Memoranda of Understanding in the land defense arena with KEMHAN and Indonesian industries during the INDODEFENCE 2025 expo. These favorable MOUs will bolster KNDS France’s industrial collaboration with Indonesia’s DTIB.
These MOUs include PT PINDAD for prospective engagement in the domain of artillery and large caliber ammunition, all involving local production transfers, along with PT DIRGANTARA for collaboration regarding outfitting Indonesian helicopters with 20mm cannons. PT SSE is also integrated to develop a counter-UAV variant of the domestically produced P2-TIGER, as well as BALITBANG to explore research and development themes in land defense.
