Exciting Upgrades Ahead for the Oshkosh HET A1!

The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has recently entrusted Oshkosh Defense with a contract for enhancement kits to upgrade existing Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) A1 tractors, incorporating superior features to comply with European road regulations at specified load capacities. Through these kits, the HET A1 will transition to the Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter System (EHETS) tractor.

The EHETS tractor and trailer combination is engineered to facilitate line haul, local transport, and maintenance evacuation of the heaviest mission-critical assets, including tanks, armored systems, and recovery vehicles. This system also assists in the self-loading and unloading of incapacitated cargo as needed during evacuation operations.

Continuously advancing military capabilities necessitate robust tactical vehicles that adapt to the challenges of an evolving combat environment.

“We are privileged that the U.S. Army consistently relies on us to enable the integration of new functionalities into combat units,” stated Pat Williams, chief programs officer at Oshkosh Defense. “The EHET stands as a prime illustration of the versatility of the Oshkosh Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles, designed to seamlessly assimilate advanced features onto the current fleet.”

The five-year firm-fixed-price agreement, valued at $89 million, provides an option for an additional three years and requires Oshkosh to deliver approximately 1,384 enhancement kits.
