Nexter Group Reveals Cutting-Edge Infantry Combat Vehicle at HEMUS 2020 Expo

The French Nexter Group has introduced its latest infantry combat vehicle during the HEMUS 2020 exhibition held in Bulgaria.

Nexter Group, in collaboration with Belgian firm John Cockerill Defense (JCD), is showcasing the revamped version of the VBCI 8×8 armored personnel carrier, equipped with a 30mm 3030 turret at HEMUS 2020.

The two collaborators share a common stand and are featuring a prototype of a unified offering: Nexter’s VBCI 8×8, into which JCD’s 30mm 3030 turret is seamlessly integrated.

These partners are jointly displaying a prototype of their collaborative product, showcasing Nexter’s VBCI 8×8 with the JCD’s 30mm 3030 turret. The VBCI 3030 benefits from Nexter’s extensive experience in armored vehicle development and integration combined with JCD’s specialized knowledge in turret technology.

The VBCI is constructed on a lightweight aluminum chassis, which is outfitted with a modular THD steel and titanium armor that can be replaced in operational settings. The 8×8 wheel arrangement is designed to enhance the VBCI’s comfort while reducing costs compared to traditional tracked vehicles, offering sufficient agility to support the main battle tank.

In recent years, the VBCI has proven its effectiveness by the French military in various theaters of conflict (Afghanistan, Sahel, Central African Republic).
