The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has proclaimed that it has bestowed upon Oshkosh Defense, a fully owned branch of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), a $99 Million contract to enhance an additional Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) with the 30 mm Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS).

In June 2021, the U.S. Army selected Oshkosh Defense alongside partners Pratt Miller Defense and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to incorporate the 30 mm MCWS onto the Stryker Double V Hull Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICVVA1). This six-year agreements contract is intended for the manufacturing and deployment of the Oshkosh Defense MCWS for as many as six Stryker brigades. The inaugural delivery order included 91 vehicles worth $130 million. This recent contract entails an additional 83 vehicles.

The Oshkosh Defense team amalgamated their top-notch capabilities to produce an MCWS that enhances lethality, precision, and range while preserving the mobility and survivability of the Stryker ICVVA1. “The Oshkosh Defense MCWS is an exceptionally proficient weapon that fulfills all criteria,” remarked Pat Williams, Vice President and General Manager of U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps Programs for Oshkosh Defense. “We take pride in the fact that the U.S. Army has placed an order for additional MCWS to equip a second Stryker brigade.”

Since obtaining the initial contract, Oshkosh Defense’s Production Representative System Sample (PRSS) initiated government Risk Mitigation Testing, an intended element of the MCWS program timeline. “As part of the Risk Mitigation Testing, Soldiers have been granted the chance to engage with the Oshkosh Defense MCWS. The responses from the first Soldier interaction have been extremely favorable and affirm our Soldier-focused design,” Williams concluded.
