“Embraer and FAB Unite to Enhance C-390 Millennium’s Special Mission Potential”

Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) entered into a partnership today at Mostra BID, the National Defense and Security Exhibition in Brasilia, to enhance collaborative research focused on increasing the capabilities of the C-390 Millennium platform for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) operations, particularly emphasizing Maritime Patrol.

Due to its adaptability, durability, cutting-edge communication, and self-defense systems, the aircraft possesses significant potential to fulfill and even surpass the operational demands not only of the Brazilian Air Force but also of clients globally.

“The initiatives to adapt the C-390 Millennium aircraft for ISR operations have progressed systematically, evaluating the aircraft’s ability to advance in order to satisfy the current and future requirements of the Brazilian Air Force, especially concerning Maritime Patrol,” notes Lieutenant-Brigadier Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno, Commander of the Brazilian Air Force.

“We are privileged to advance alongside the FAB in studies aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of the C-390 Millennium. This underlines our pledge to consistently provide our clients with an aircraft able to execute their most demanding missions with unmatched efficiency,” stated Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. “This marks another significant milestone in the enduring partnership developed with the FAB.”

The potential for creating new operational capabilities exemplifies Embraer’s proficiency in engineering and systems integration. The aircraft is already regarded by its users as the most sophisticated in its class. The C-390 Millennium has been selected by Brazil, Hungary, Austria, South Korea, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Sweden to enhance their air power.

With a maximum load capacity of 26 tons, a peak velocity of 470 knots, and cutting-edge technology, the C-390 Millennium stands out as the premier aircraft in its category. Its powerful engines, expansive cargo compartment with a rear ramp, and strong landing gear enable it to undertake the most challenging missions, including operations from unpaved airstrips.

The existing fleet of C-390 Millennium aircraft in operation around the globe has accumulated over 15,000 flight hours, achieving a mission capability rate of 93% and mission success rates surpassing 99%, showcasing remarkable reliability in its sector.
