Hensoldt Secures Groundbreaking Deal for Eurofighter Maintenance Services

Sensor solutions provider HENSOLDT has secured a contract valued at a mid-three-digit million euro figure for the subsequent phase of Eurofighter upkeep. This agreement encompasses service duties for HENSOLDT’s allocation of a variety of Eurofighter systems, specifically in the domains of radar, self-defense, and avionics. HENSOLDT’s services play a vital role in boosting the desired number of Eurofighter operational flying hours.

The comprehensive service flight hour agreement is structured through collaborative alliances involving the four primary Eurofighter nations (UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany) and mandated by a series of national contracts via the Eurofighter partner entities (Airbus GE, Airbus SP, BAE Systems UK, Leonardo Aircraft Division IT). HENSOLDT serves as the national leader of the Radar and DASS (Defensive Aids Subsystem) Consortium for servicing the German contingent until the conclusion of 2026 and additionally acts as the service and consortium associate for the other nations.

Upon activation of the contract, the assemblies from the four Eurofighter core nations, totaling approximately 500 aircraft, will be serviced by HENSOLDT facilities located in Ulm, Friedrichshafen, Taufkirchen, Neuburg, and Laage. The German facilities in Neuburg and Laage are equipped with TDCs (Technical Diagnostic Cells). Here, HENSOLDT experts swiftly repair radar and self-defense components of the German Eurofighters on-site, ensuring minimal downtime. Furthermore, the Radar Automatic Test Equipment (RATE) system, developed and maintained by HENSOLDT, is utilized across all Eurofighter nations. It assists the on-site technicians in troubleshooting as well as in the final re-certification of assemblies for flight operations following repairs.
