Naval Group Partners with ST Engineering Marine for Cutting-Edge Upgrade of Formidable Class Frigates
On December 14, 2023, ST Engineering declared that its subsidiary, ST Engineering Marine Ltd, has attained a contract with the Singapore Ministry of Defence for the mid-life enhancement of the Formidable-class frigates for the Republic of Singapore Navy. Naval Group, as a subcontractor of ST Engineering, will be continuing the collaboration that began in 2000 with the construction program of the Formidable-class frigates.
With this agreement signed with ST Engineering Marine Ltd, Naval Group is delighted to persist in its collaboration with our partner, aimed at serving the Singapore Navy efficiently.
Naval Group possesses an extensive comprehension of the Formidable frigates, having constructed the initial vessel in the Formidable-class series at the Lorient shipyard in France. The other five vessels were fabricated locally by the ST Engineering shipyard, following the significant technology transfer agreement, which exemplifies the robust partnership between both enterprises. For the successful execution of this venture, Naval Group will closely collaborate with Naval Group Far East, its subsidiary based in Singapore, which is already assisting the Singaporean Navy and ST Engineering in project management, maintenance, and supply chain logistics.
