“Revolutionizing Naval Power: EDGE Forms Game-Changing Multi-Billion Euro Partnership with CMN NAVAL”

EDGE, a key global technology and defense firm, in collaboration with CMN NAVAL, a reputable maritime shipbuilding company recognized for its specialization in design, engineering, and construction of outstanding naval and commercial vessels, as well as luxury yachts, have officially sealed a partnership to establish a new shipbuilding joint venture (JV) based in Abu Dhabi, known as AD NAVAL (ADN). By leveraging an existing order portfolio worth approximately EUR 7 billion, this JV will combine both organizations under a exclusivity pact focusing on the niche of high-value small to mid-sized naval crafts, which encompasses Corvettes, Offshore Patrol Craft (OPVs), High-speed Interceptors, Trimarans, and Landing Craft. This initiative will empower EDGE to substantially amplify its capacities within the naval domain.

Having a 51% ownership share in the newly instituted entity, EDGE will collaborate closely with CMN NAVAL on sales, commercial ventures, and engineering projects. Furthermore, a design office will be set up, acquiring intellectual property rights for all future designs. The JV will grant EDGE access to CMN NAVAL’s vast global supply chain and its advanced Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) system and software, enhancing cost-effectiveness and operational efficiencies through predictive and preventive maintenance, in addition to the provision and management of all spare components.

The scope of the JV will also explore Combat Systems Integration (CSI) of EDGE’s cutting-edge autonomous air and marine technologies, along with advanced weapon solutions, onto vessels produced by the new establishment.

Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director & CEO of EDGE Group, expressed: “This embodies yet another illustration of our strategy for deliberate growth through global partnerships with leading entities across air, land, and maritime domains. The extent of our collaboration with CMN, especially strong in EDGE’s critical focus areas in Africa, will empower us to merge our expertise and exchange technologies in the naval sector to fabricate superior crafts in the UAE. Furthermore, it will promote the establishment of cross-complementary integration programs for our autonomous air and sea systems, cutting-edge weaponry, radar, and cyber solutions, onto the vessels being manufactured for non-NATO naval forces worldwide. Ultimately, it will also create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities in the UAE and beyond, contributing to economic development in this vibrant and varied sector. We are optimistic that CMN will be an outstanding partner for ongoing creativity and progress.”

The announcement closely follows an initial partnership agreement established at IDEX 2025 last month in Abu Dhabi, where both parties laid the foundation for collaboration across various fields, including the development of groundbreaking naval platforms, system integration, maintenance, and commercial activities, all aimed at setting new benchmarks in naval innovation, utilizing next-generation technologies such as AI-enabled autonomous systems, advanced combat solutions, and modular vessel configurations.

The JV will create valuable direct job opportunities for skilled professionals in the UAE, as well as related third-party prospects throughout its global supply chain.

Pierre Balmer, Chairman of CMN NAVAL, noted: “We are thrilled to join forces with EDGE Group in this strategic collaboration, which highlights our shared commitment to innovation, excellence, and the enhancement of naval capabilities. By leveraging our extensive expertise in shipbuilding and EDGE’s advanced defense technologies, we will provide next-gen naval solutions tailored to the evolving requirements of global maritime forces. This partnership not only strengthens our position in key international markets but also paves the way for better technology transfer, industrial collaboration, and job creation. Together, we anticipate establishing new industry standards and nurturing sustainable growth within the defense and maritime sectors.”
