Rostec Unveils Groundbreaking Technology to Extend Firearm Longevity

The new technology was evaluated during the production of sniper and assault rifles. The primary change was the breech mechanism design, which was secured in the casing to prevent unintended impacts during firearm operation. Various testing conditions were employed, including firing in dusty environments, during rain, and after dragging the firearm through sand.

“The assessments revealed that the redesigned structure enhanced the reliability of automatic firearm functioning and effectively doubled their lifespan. The performance of weapons utilizing this innovative technology exceeded that of currently deployed models,” stated Sergey Abramov, Industrial Director of Rostec’s Conventional Armament, Ammunition, and Special Chemistry Cluster.

The developers highlight that the design of the proposed technical solutions is notably straightforward. Components and assemblies of the firearms can be enhanced utilizing established and reliable technology alongside versatile technical innovations. No significant additional expenses are necessary for modifications.
