BAE Wins $34.9 Million USMC Contract for Cutting-Edge ACV-R Variant
The U.S. Marine Corps has conferred a contract to BAE Systems for the design and advancement of an Amphibious Combat Vehicle Recovery (ACV-R) variant.
BAE Systems has been granted a $34.9 million agreement from the U.S. Marine Corps for the design and enhancement of an Amphibious Combat Vehicle Recovery (ACV-R) variant. The ACV-R is set to supplant the outdated Assault Amphibious Vehicle recovery variant (AAVR7A1), providing essential field support, maintenance, and recovery for the ACV vehicle family.
This contract marks the initial phase of the initiative, concentrating on the design and enhancement of the ACV-R over a span of 20 months. The subsequent phase will encompass the provision of production test vehicles for user assessment.
“The recovery variant will deliver vital recovery capabilities within the amphibious fleet,” remarked John Swift, vice president of amphibious programs at BAE Systems. “It also broadens the ACV family of vehicles and showcases the base vehicle’s established design, enabling its seamless integration into the fleet without sacrificing performance.”
The ACV initiative is currently in full-scale production with BAE Systems, and the firm is contracted to supply two additional variants within the ACV family: the ACV personnel variant (ACV-P) and the ACV command variant (ACV-C). Furthermore, the company has secured a design and development contract for a 30mm cannon variant (ACV-30). Additionally, BAE Systems has received directives from the Marine Corps to undertake a study on the integration of advanced reconnaissance, command, control, communication, and computers/unmanned aerial systems mission payload into an ACV variant.
Production and support for the ACV are occurring at BAE Systems facilities located in: Stafford, VA; San Jose, CA; Sterling Heights, MI; Aiken, SC; and York, PA.
