NSPA and Safran Launch Cutting-Edge Hub for JIM-Compact Binocular Maintenance

NSPA and Safran establish a maintenance facility for portable optronic binocular JIM-Compact

NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency), collaborating with Safran Electronics & Defense, has received the green light from NVO (Night Vision and Optoelectronics) Support Partnership nations to initiate the sharing of expertise, tools, and equipment to establish a maintenance facility for the JIM COMPACT multifunctional binocular at the NSPA Headquarters in Capellen, Luxembourg.

This establishment will furnish the NSPA Electro-Optics Laboratory with a specialized Test Bench for executing assembly/disassembly, calibration tasks, and software enhancements on the JIM Compact equipment provided by Safran Electronics & Defense. With the arrival of the bench in 2023, NSPA will be able to conduct Level 3 Maintenance operations on the JIM Compact.

This setup will enable rapid maintenance response for nations and generate significant long-term life cycle savings by pooling investments in technology, inventory, and dedicated resources.

The NVO Support Partnership presently includes Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Denmark, Greece, The Netherlands, and Norway. The areas of support encompass a diverse array of products: stand-alone, integrated, or networked thermal imaging, image enhancement, optical and laser systems employed for observation, surveillance, target acquisition, aiming, localization, or designation, together with aiming platforms or control systems, as well as associated accessories and support apparatus.
