“Embraer and FAB Join Forces to Elevate the C-390 Millennium’s Specialized Mission Capabilities”

Embraer and the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) forged a collaboration today at Mostra BID, the National Defense and Security Exhibition in Brasilia, aimed at boosting joint research focused on enhancing the capabilities of the C-390 Millennium platform for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, particularly accentuating Maritime Patrol.

With its versatility, robustness, state-of-the-art communication, and self-defense mechanisms, the aircraft has substantial potential to address and even exceed the operational requirements not just of the Brazilian Air Force but also of international customers.

“The efforts to modify the C-390 Millennium aircraft for ISR missions have developed methodically, assessing the aircraft’s capacity to evolve in order to meet the present and future needs of the Brazilian Air Force, particularly in relation to Maritime Patrol,” remarks Lieutenant-Brigadier Marcelo Kanitz Damasceno, Chief of the Brazilian Air Force.

“We are honored to progress with the FAB in initiatives designed to enhance the operational abilities of the C-390 Millennium. This highlights our commitment to continuously deliver an aircraft that can perform their most challenging missions with peerless efficiency,” expressed Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security. “This represents another key milestone in the enduring collaboration established with the FAB.”

The opportunity for developing new operational capabilities exemplifies Embraer’s expertise in engineering and systems integration. The aircraft is currently esteemed by its operators as the most advanced in its segment. The C-390 Millennium has been chosen by Brazil, Hungary, Austria, South Korea, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Portugal, and Sweden to significantly bolster their aerial strength.

With a maximum payload capacity of 26 tons, a top speed of 470 knots, and innovative technology, the C-390 Millennium asserts itself as the premier aircraft in its category. Its robust engines, spacious cargo area equipped with a rear ramp, and durable landing gear empower it to execute the most formidable missions, including operations from unpaved runways.

The current fleet of C-390 Millennium aircraft in operation worldwide has amassed over 15,000 flight hours, achieving a mission capability rate of 93% and mission success rates exceeding 99%, demonstrating exceptional reliability in its field.
