L3Harris Finalizes Game-Changing Merger with Aerojet Rocketdyne

L3Harris Technologies has finalized its acquisition of Aerojet Rocketdyne, establishing a new business division within the organization.

L3Harris entered into a definitive deal to acquire Aerojet Rocketdyne in December 2022, accentuating its capacity to fortify the defense industrial landscape, boost competition, and speed up innovation for a vital supplier of propulsion systems.

“I am excited to welcome over 5,000 new team members to the L3Harris family today,” stated Christopher E. Kubasik, Chair and CEO of L3Harris.

“With national security as a priority, we’re merging our resources and expertise with Aerojet Rocketdyne’s advancements in propulsion and energetics to ensure that both the Department of Defense and civil space clientele can meet critical mission demands on a global scale,” he remarked.

The organization also revealed that Ross Niebergall will assume the role of President for the Aerojet Rocketdyne division at L3Harris.

“Our clients require a competitive landscape that fosters innovative and nimble solutions,” Niebergall noted. “We will build on the robust Aerojet Rocketdyne legacy to enhance production capabilities and fulfill those anticipations.”

This acquisition broadens the L3Harris portfolio, providing significant long-term backlog and extensive expertise that opens doors in missile defense systems, hypersonics, and advanced rocket engines, among various other fields.

Aerojet Rocketdyne will continue to operate under the name Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies entity.
