Bell Unveils Milestone: RCAF’s CH-146C MK II Griffon Helicopter Takes to the Skies!

Bell Textron Canada Limited, a subsidiary of Textron Inc., declared the triumphant initial flight of one of the Royal Canadian Air Force’s enhanced CH-146 Griffon helicopters, a variant of the Bell 412EP, as part of the Griffon Limited Life Extension (GLLE) initiative. Through GLLE, Bell will deliver modifications to a selection of the fleet’s aviation components, encompassing its avionics systems, cockpit interfaces, engines, and sensor technologies. This announcement follows closely, nearly five months after Bell secured the In-Service Support (ISS) contract aimed at maintaining the Force’s fleet up until 2039.

“The Bell 412 continues to be a highly regarded aircraft choice for military organizations worldwide, with the Royal Canadian Air Force operating the largest and most advanced militarized fleet of 412s,” stated Danny Maldonado, chief commercial officer, Bell. “Bell is privileged to extend our collaboration with the Royal Canadian Air Force as they enhance their operational capabilities with cutting-edge technologies.”

To celebrate this significant flight milestone, Bell organized an event at Bell’s Commercial Centre of Excellence for attendees to observe the inaugural flight of the upgraded aircraft.
