Oshkosh Defense Secures Third Contract for Enhanced Stryker Armament with Advanced 30mm System

Oshkosh, Wis. (July 13, 2022) — The U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) has proclaimed that it has granted Oshkosh Defense, a wholly owned division of Oshkosh Corporation, a contract valued at $130 Million to modernize 95 additional Stryker Double-V Hull Infantry Carrier Vehicles (ICVVA1) featuring the 30 mm Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS).

In June 2021, the U.S. Army chose Oshkosh Defense in collaboration with partners Pratt Miller Defense and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to incorporate the 30 mm MCWS onto the Stryker ICVVA1. This five-year requirements contract (with an additional option year) encompasses production and logistical support for the MCWS, aimed at up to six Stryker Brigade Combat Teams (SBCTs). Including the current order, the U.S. Army has procured a total of 269 upgraded vehicles worth $356 Million to equip three SBCTs in addition to 20 vehicles designated for Product Verification Testing (PVT), Follow-on Operational Testing & Evaluation (FOT&E), and logistical development.

“We collaborate with our clients to deliver customized solutions that fulfill present demands while remaining focused on future growth potential,” stated Pat Williams, Vice President and General Manager of U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps Programs. “For the MCWS program, our team heeded customer feedback to create a Soldier-centric lethality solution in a lightweight format that’s straightforward to deploy while preserving the survivability and mobility performance of the Stryker.”

In April 2022, Oshkosh Defense completed Government-scheduled Risk Management Testing (RMT), which further confirmed the Oshkosh design’s efficacy. Additionally, Oshkosh Defense commenced production of the systems for delivery to PVT testing, which is set to begin in late summer.

“We take pride in the collaboration we’ve established with the U.S. Army and the lethality solution we’ve crafted together. We eagerly anticipate delivering the vehicles for testing and getting them into the hands of the Soldiers who require them,” concluded Williams.
