Oshkosh Defense Unveils Championship JLTV at AUSA Global Force Event
Oshkosh Defense will present its Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Global Force Symposium in Huntsville, Alabama, from March 15-17, 2016. The Oshkosh JLTV is an advanced light tactical wheeled vehicle featuring an extraordinary blend of protection, mobility, transportability, and net-centric systems integration, effectively operating as a mobile command center.
“The battlefield can produce an unpredictable mix of terrain, tactics, and threats, and our forces need to remain connected, no matter where their missions lead,” stated John Bryant, Senior Vice President of Defense Programs at Oshkosh Defense. “The JLTV is a network on wheels, marking the first occasion a tactical wheeled vehicle has been engineered from the ground up to be Net Ready. Our JLTV is among the most connected and secure vehicles within our fleet.”
The Oshkosh JLTV
The JLTV initiative is a critical focus for the Department of Defense, addressing a significant capability shortfall for the U.S. Army and Marine Corps by superseding a substantial segment of the older up-armored HMMWV fleet with a contemporary light vehicle that offers unparalleled protection and off-road agility, as well as transportability by air, land, and sea. The JLTV production agreement mandates Oshkosh to supply approximately 17,000 vehicles, alongside kits and services over an eight-year timeframe. The Oshkosh JLTV integrates cutting-edge automotive technologies, the innovative Oshkosh Core1080™ crew protection system, and the Oshkosh TAK-4i™ intelligent independent suspension system, resulting in the world’s quickest, most safeguarded light military vehicle. The Oshkosh Defense JLTV is flexible and customizable to meet future mission adjustments and unforeseen threats, not only for today but for years to come.
U.S. Soldiers and Marines can anticipate:
A vehicle that is one-third smaller and one-third lighter than the Oshkosh MRAP All-Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV)
Off-road velocities 70 percent quicker than today’s gold benchmark, the Oshkosh M-ATV
A modular framework that can be rapidly and efficiently equipped for a comprehensive array of missions
Banks 866T, 6.6 Liter Turbo Diesel Engine, derived from GM Duramax architecture
Completely transportable by air or sea, compatible with C130, CH-53, and CH-47
Network ready and VICTORY compliant
Enhanced ride quality
